Britain’s King Charles, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper welcomed leaders from the Western Balkans to a reception at St James’s Palace in London on Tuesday.

The gathering — attended by regional figures including Kosovo’s Albin Kurti and Bosnia’s Borjana Kristo — celebrated the deepening ties between the United Kingdom and the Western Balkans.

The reception comes ahead of Wednesday’s summit, where leaders are expected to discuss closer alignment of the region with Europe.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is also expected to attend the talks, underscoring renewed European engagement in the Balkans amid ongoing geopolitical shifts in the region.
