WORLD AWAITS RUSSIA-UKRAINE TALKS IN ISTANBUL – Hostilities intensify in years-long war

Peace talks between Russia and Ukraine will resume today in Istanbul, with Turkey again acting as mediator. Following a May 16 meeting that led to a major prisoner swap, both sides agreed to continue negotiations, with Russia set to present a detailed peace proposal.

Turkey’s role has been praised by both nations, with its foreign minister meeting leaders in Moscow and Kyiv.

Ukraine’s delegation will be led by Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, while the U.S. has expressed support but is yet to confirm participation.

Meanwhile, tensions remain high. Ukraine launched drone strikes on multiple Russian airfields over the weekend, prompting Russia to label the attacks as terrorism. The violence adds pressure to the upcoming talks.
