Alycia Parks knocked out top-seeded Emma Navarro 4-6 6-3 6-2 in an all-U.S. second-round match in Monterrey, Mexico.
After dropping the first set, American second seed Parks got the lone service break of the second set for a 2-0 lead. She added breaks on each of Navarro’s first three service games of the final set to pull away.
Next up for Parks is Slovakia’s Rebecca Sramkova, who rallied past seventh-seeded Leylah Fernandez of Canada 2-6 6-3 6-2.
