RUSSIA HALTS DRUZHBA TRANSIT TO GERMANY – Airankol oil field in Kazakhstan

Fresh footage shot by Reuters shows operations at Airankol oil field operated by Caspiy Neft in the western Atyrau region of Kazakhstan.

Russia confirmed on Wednesday that oil supplies from Kazakhstan previously destined for Germany via the Druzhba pipeline would be diverted to other routes from May 1, citing technical constraints.

The head of Russia’s state pipeline operator Transneft, Nikolai Tokarev, said on Thursday he did not expect resumption of Kazakhstan’s oil transit via the Druzhba pipeilne to Germany any time soon, Interfax news agency reported.

Tokarev said alternative options for re-routing Kazakh flows include using the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) system as well as Russian ports on the Baltic and Black Seas.
